Ready Player 2.0

"Ready Player 2.0" is the product of the Robot Theater project for the Animation and Visual Effects students. Over the course of 10 weeks, the students are to create a silent story told in a minute about a robot. In this story, we follow Model B-799 as he tries to cure his boredom in his backyard. What we find out is that his cure does not lie with his toys, but rather what exists outside of his little world.

Model sheets are supposed to represent a character with the correct proportions before it is 3D modeled. Model B-799 is a child and this is shown by his wide eyes and propeller power source.

This project was done almost entirely in Autodesk Maya. The Animation 2 course is made for students to gather their tools and skills from the previous CG modeling classes and focus it all into one project. When the course is finished, the students will learn the workflow of industry animators to create a cohesive story and video. On top of learning that process, students learn their own forms of cinematography to express individuality within the confines of the projects criteria.
